Chigwell Riding Trust was the first ever riding centre for people with special needs and has been established in Chigwell for over fifty years. Riding instruction is given to people of all ages and abilities.

As one of the leading specialised riding centres in the country Chigwell Riding Trust not only benefits people with special needs but also the entire community, giving opportunities for volunteering, school participation and practical experience for children and adults working with people and animals.

Paul, our postman for many years has just completed the Brighton Marathon. A remarkable acheivement and raising somewhere over £3000 for Chigwell Riding Trust. Well done and thank you to Paul and to all of his supporters.

We would like to thank the riders who have made donations in lieu of riding fees and the very generous volunteers and supporters who have made some quite remarkable donations to the Trust during the very difficult times we have experienced over the last couple of years.

Please consider supporting us if you can.

Thank you.

An eight minute video of our last horse care week before the pandemic. There is also some video of Sophie, a Trustee of Chigwell Riding Trust and para rider, riding Madge. This was shortly after Madge arrived at Chigwell. We look forward to more times like this in the not too distant future.

Full time coach required

Chigwell Riding Trust is looking for a new coach. This is a great opportunity for the right person. We are looking for a coach who has either their BHSII or is an experienced AI. At times you may have to take sole charge of the yard. You would be coaching a wide range of riders from those with profound problems right up to Para level and teaching able bodied volunteers too. You will be required to school the horses regularly and have the opportunity for regular lessons yourself. All usual yard duties would have to be undertaken. Good people skills are essential for this specialised field. We are a happy, friendly yard and the successful candidate needs to be enthusiastic and able to motivate others as we are volunteer based. Previous experience working with people with disabilities or special needs would be an advantage but training would be given if you are new to this field. Own car needed. D.B.S. at enhanced level required. It will be a 45 hour week, working Tuesday to Saturday inclusive. Contact us just here

The wonderful opportunities that Chigwell Riding Trust can offer have only been made possible by the generosity of people such as you. Please consider a donation to enable the Trust to continue to be the wonderful place that it is. Thank you.
